What is Segway? How Does it Work?
The Segway personal transporter is a self-balancing, personal transportation device designed to go pretty much anywhere you can walk. Segways are easy to use and operate. The device monitors your balance 100 times per second and automatically responds to your body’s movements. To move forward, the rider simply leans forward. To stop, the rider stands straight up. Move backward, the rider leans back slightly.
How Do I Learn to Ride a Segway?
All riders are required to participate in a 15 minute training and orientation session to ensure a safe and enjoyable ride for everyone. You will be trained on safe Segway operation and emergency stops. The tour will not begin until everyone is comfortable and confident on the Segway. All riders are required to wear a helmet, which is provided free of charge.
How Fast Do Segways Go?
The Segway is designed to travel up to 12.5 mph. We will begin the training and tour at a much slower speed until all riders are confident. Once all riders are comfortable and in the absence of pedestrians, we will allow you to reach the maximum Segway speed on your tour.
Do I Need a Reservation?
Yes, reservations are required to ensure you get the date and time that best fit your plans. Call (716) 355-4141 to schedule a tour.
What Time Do I Need to Arrive For My Tour?
Please pay at the Lower Golf Course Pro Shop/Tavern on the Tee and meet at the Ski Rental Area at the Lodge. All riders should plan on arriving at the start location no less than 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time. The sooner everybody arrives, the sooner the fun begins.
How Many People Are in Each Tour?
To ensure a personal ride for all of our guests, we limit tours to 10 riders, although most of our tours have even fewer participants. For larger group tours, please call (716) 355-4141.
How Long Does The Segway Tour Last? Will We Stop For Pictures?
Depending on the tour you choose, each of the Segway tours begins with 15 minutes of orientation and training. There are plenty of great photo opportunities that the tour will stop at along the way.
Are the Tours Ever Cancelled Due to Weather?
Peek’n Peak Segway tours rarely cancel due to inclement weather. Segways are water-resistant and designed to operate in light rain. In the rare case of a tour cancellation due to severe weather, we will offer space on an alternate tour date or time. If space on an alternate date or time is not available, we will accommodate you.
What Should I Wear?
Dress comfortably in light, breathable material. Avoid extremely loose or baggy clothing. You will be moving at 12.5 mph so be sure to check the weather and wear layers when necessary. Closed-toe, flat shoes, crocks with back strap or sneakers are required. No flip-flops, sandals, open-toe shoes, open back shoes, heels or platforms. Sneakers are best, however Sketchers shape-ups and similar type toning shoes are not allowed. For safety reasons, you will not be allowed to ride if you do not have appropriate footwear.
Can I Bring My Purse?
Each Segway has a small handlebar storage bag for small personal items. Please leave purses, bags and backpacks at home or stored securely in your vehicle. Peek’n Peak Segway tours not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Will There Be Food Available?
The resort has a number of food options available for our guests before and after your tour.
Are Restrooms Available?
Please use the restroom prior to your arrival.
Are Tips Required?
At the discretion of the guests.
Are Private Tours provided? What about Corporate Events or Private Parties?
Yes. In addition to tours, Peek’n Peak offers corporate events, team building functions and private parties. Call (716) 355-4141 to book your special event.
Do You Have Gift Cards?
Yes, the ultimate gift card can be used on Peek’n Peak Segway Tours and can be purchased at one of our participating locations or online at www.ultimategiftcard.net
Alcohol and Medications
Peek’n Peak Segway tours will refuse service to anyone who is suspected to be under the influence of alcohol, banned substances or prescription medications that warn against equipment operation.
Cancellations, Changes and No Show Policy
Tours are non-refundable, except under extenuating circumstances at the discretion of Peek’n Peak Segway tours. Changes to your booking will be done free of charge, but must be made at least 72 hours in advance of your scheduled tour. If you are a “no show” and no advance notification of your absence is given, you will not be allowed to reschedule. If you have issues with your scheduled tour time or date within 72 hours of your tour, please call Peek’n Peak Segway tours at (716) 355-4141 and we will be happy to help you.
